Ontrack online questions from rps or nadia bukhari book?

    Hi all,

I wanted to opinion on which one is good or better the ontrack online questions from RPS or nadia bukhari books (sample qestions)? The money is similar as roughly £30 for 3 months ontrack or two set of books so not sure which one is worth going for?

    Thanks

Hey I have tried all three, last year and all I can say from my own experience is that, the second book nadia had published had a more challenging set of questions, the RPS question bank was shambolic it had so many errors I was shocked you would have thought the RPS would have taken the time to produce accurate questions and plus the questions were to easy which gives a false sense of security and in reality the actual paper I did was so much harder! However despite criticising the RPS question bank it would be the more up to date place to look into because Nadia's book included MEP, BNF and Drug tariff and the format has changed considerably for this year.

Make sure your basic maths is up to scratch have a look in the previous threads in the pre-reg section which discuss calculation questions because I found alot of questions where general maths based as opposed to purely pharmaceutical so the trick is to practice basic arithmetic and pharmaceutical calculation, it did initially throw me off because all i did was practice pharmaceutical calculation based questions, but I managed to still pass but it was hell hardest exam I have ever done.

    Hello,

As commissioning editor of TP ONtrack I thought I should clarify a few issues made in this thread.

Nadia Bukhari is one of our major contributors to TP ONtrack. Our other contributors include pharmacy academics, past question writers and preregistration tutors.

If users have queries on MCQs, we would encourage them to get in touch with us. We usually acknowledge receipt of the query within 24 hours and will liase with our reviewers/question writers if something is not clear.

jdz4rma, please feel free to contact me directly (contact details on the TP ONtrack website )

I have used RPS on line questions and I must admit they were excellent specially the calculations. I had been to other online questions and there were toooo many mistakes there as well. I think we should just let them know and they will update the information afterall in our proffesssion new things keep comin in.
All of my friends thought that this is more reliable source online. the only thing I do feel that GPhC should change their attitude regarding these sample papers which students find much easier then the actual exam. yes! actual exam is much harder specially the calculations , most of them just maths.
Information is more upto date on RPSGB website, guidance documents, POM to P switches are readily available on line, which is less headache if you are working as afull time prereg.

    Dear Benedict,

I happened to have used the question bank and initially errors where found by myself and other people but I believe these were rectified but I felt quite surprised this had happened in the first place. Nevertheless I have directed the OP of this thread to consider using the question bank because the format for which Nadia wrote last year no longer applies but hopefully this should not be an issue for the ontrack question bank.

Hi there, no you do not need to be a member of the RPS to access these online questions. You can take out a subscription whether you are a member or not. In saying that, members of the RPS do get a discounted rate. You can choose from 30, 60 or 90-day subscriptions. More details on the website.

Re: Ontrack online questions from rps or nadia bukhari book?

I dont understand.....how come the format has changed ? only drug tariff and MEP will not be an open book reference....
even the drud tariff can be managed from BNF.......charges questions, CDs, Emergency supplies are CB questions.
I think its a blessing in disguise if they have taken out those reference sources.
If your concepts aout particular topic or mechanism is not clear, you cant answer the question even if you open that topic in open book exam. and thats the reason students find the exam harder.
sallybus on GPhC website is still the same as last years.....questions format is the same......even the sample paper open book question, they didnt bother to update the question as it was taken from BNF 58 !!!!
I bet student must be confused on that respiratory oxygen level question, the answer of which is no longer in current addition..........come on GPHC......wake up.....its 2012!
