Papworth Interview

Hi

I know there are threads and discussions about pre-reg interview questions etc, but i cannot seem to find anyone who mentioned anything about papworth hospital. i have my interview there on thursday. any help/tips from anyone would be greatly appreciated. anyone working for any cambridgeshire trusts?

Will be much the same as any other hospital reported on the forum. Could mention your interest in cardiothoracic medicine.

From what I heard, you might be given a drug chart and you will be required to identify any discrepancies, mistakes and interactions. For example, simvastatin was given in the morning instead of night time, etc.

They may also ask what you would do in a particular situation - possibly how you would prioritize the time between dispensary phone call, patients who have been waiting for a long time and a query from a Doctor, etc. You would be expecting to explain your reasons behind the choices you made.

Some students have been asked questions, such as: What is the role of NICE? Why are you a suitable candidate for this position? What do you know about the managerial side of working in a hospital?

Admittedly not as detailed as you'd like but I doubt interview questions would vary that much between trusts. Make sure you have done your research on the hospital/trust, eg specialties. Could also mention any open days or visits you've been to (if you have).

i dont really know much about the managerial aspects of hospital pharmacy

i'm currently glancing through the cardiovascular section of the BNF

If anything, CV drugs are likely to come up. In a summer placement interview I had, I was asked whether propranolol and salbutamol could be given together. That's the kind of level I think they're looking at.
