pre reg hours

Hi, im due to start my pre-reg in february.
haven't signed any contracts yet but i've been offered a place with cohens.
just wondering how many hours i'm expected to work a week and the average for all other pre reg students.
i've been told its 40 or even 45 for some students. i've been used to doin 37.5 hours from ma summer placements.

and the pharmacy is open on saturdays 9 to 1. am i expected to work these hours too?

You ususally work 37.5 in a hospital setting or 40-42h in community. Why are you starting pre-reg in feb though?

You will probably be expected to do some weekend work as the store may be busier giving you a different type of expereince.

im on the 5year course at bradford. doing my 1st 6months with cohens n hopefuly do the 2nd in hospital. thx for the help. anybdy know the hours for cohens specifically?

Hello, my friend did her prereg for Cohens - I believe she did Mon-Thurs 9-6 and Friday 9-4.30 with no weekends, but am not really sure. She didn't do many/any Saturdays, I know that.

The best thing to do is ring Head Office and discuss it with them, from my experiences they are really friendly.

I do some locums in W Yorkshire for Cohens - PM me which store you're going to be in and I'll let you know what its like if I've worked there.

I work on Saturdays. Just the pharmacist and I. It's good practice for working under 'stressful' situations, and also, there's more OTC practice and maybe how to deal with bizzare requests.
