To rank or not to rank?

Hi all,

I'm just about to submit my application for hospital pre-reg and I don't know what to do about ranking. I'm leaning towards not ranking any as I'm thinking that ranking one hospital as 1 will piss the others off.

I haven't got a favourite out of the four I've chosen but I've got a 2 week placement at one of them and one is quite a specialised hospital.

Any input would be great

A tricky one that all hospital pharmacists have faced when they applied for pre-reg. I personally didn't rank for fear of alienating other hospitals. If you don't rank inevitably they will ask you at interview why you want to work at that particular hospital. Out of the 4 hospitals I chose, I had experience with one of them, got an interview with them where they asked me why I wanted to work there. Gave them an honest answer and got the pre-reg.

I ranked mines but i never got asked why...one of them i did a placement, the second was close to home and the third was a specialised one.

If you really, really want to go somewhere, then put them first. Otherwise you might be better to leave them all unranked.

Thanks for the replies. In the end I left them all unranked because I didn't want to put one off just because I hadn't ranked them as 1st.

i dont think u could get those one with * (takes in 1 every 10 - 20+ applicants) if you don't rank them as 1st?

Nah, I didn't apply for any * ones. Too much competition.
