    Listening Friends?

I'm getting really upset and stressed over a certain issue regarding my pre-reg. It's been quite awhile now and I'm considering contacting Listening Friends to see if they could help me before I resort to contacting the GPhC as I have a feeling that they(the GPhC)'re not very helpful.. Does anyone know if they're helpful? Or would I be wasting my time and should just go ahead and contact the GPhC?

OK. I and others have become very concerned about the stream of negative reports coming through regarding treatment of pre regs. I remember it starting with 'Concerned parent of pre reg'.

I have discussed this with Elaine and we and other volunteers are willing to talk to pre regs with these problems. I am not a trained counsellor but will do my best to advise as possible. What we are looking for is a circle of experienced pharmacists, past and present who are willing to listen on the 'phone after preliminary PMs. I am ready. Will others please put themselves forward. We may even do it via a private forum so that experiences can be shared. What do you think?

    Re: Listening Friends?

Excellent idea John. I would be prepared to contribute.

Re GPhC, they are a new organisation albeit staffed by ex RPSGB gestapo. However they are currently operating a "light touch" policy. I have contacted them about 2 matters to date and on a question of professional standards they were absolutely excellent. I would imagine that they could, and would welcome the opportunity to resolve this difference the OP has raised. I certainly think it better than the listening friends who are counsellors and although very good may actually suggest the GPhC anyway.

Just a thought though, there are two sides to every story and the tutor will have an opportunity to put his/her point. If you are happy with this and confident that you will be able to continue working under his/her supervision fair enough. If you believe that no matter how well you perform you will be prejudiced against, you have nothing to lose so shouldn't hesitate. If it boils down to a personality clash you will have to manage it, possibly by addressing it. That is something you will encounter many times in the future so don't be afraid of it.

    Good luck

Count me in John. I have worked in industry, hospital as well as retail. I also have a different perspective as I am also a disabled person. I am happy to help via web cam, skype, PM's or just on the phone. I can easily start another private section to the site.
