Obtaining a pre reg place without pharmacy experience?
Hi
I am due to apply for a pre reg place next year as I begin my 3rd year. I'm worried as I haven't had a summer placement in the last 2 years despite applying and I haven't been able to get any pharmacy part time or voluntary work. Will this limit me alot in terms of getting a pre reg with places like boots etc?
Re: Obtaining a pre reg place without pharmacy experience?
They always need pre-regs in remote places. Expect competition in popular areas..I didn't get a pre-reg position at lloyds, boots or co-op in London. My only experience was working at an independent in the summer holidays.
Re: Obtaining a pre reg place without pharmacy experience?
The trouble is trying to identify the remote places. These days it seems like there is competition everywhere. Do you know any places that are classified as remote in England?
Re: Obtaining a pre reg place without pharmacy experience?
You are extremely right, Right. The Atlantic seems like my only option. I've seen a few pre-reg places being advertised next to oil rigs in the Atlantic, 20 miles off the coast of Ireland, but the competition is high. 500 applicants for 4 places.
I'm thinking about Scotland but seems a bit racist down there. I was walking through Glasgow once, got called the P word a few times. Any pharmacist experienced racism in Scotland?

Yes, virtually all non Scots. they still blame the English for their troubles. Canadians and New Zealanders generally well accepted as many Scots emigrants.

I have to disagree. I'm Scottish and having to apply to NES and Pharmalife to increase my chances of getting a 2012 place. Scotland has only 170 pre-reg places and there's over 200 students in my year alone at Strathclyde, nevermind inlcuding the students from RGU, Aberdeen. It's completely saturated.
