It was only a matter of time to be honest before any people who failed the exam would blame the disorganisation of the exam day. The GPhC have already signalled their intent anyway:
The GPhC has apologised to students who sat this year’s examination but said that the pass rate was not significantly different from those of previous years and that those students who took the assessment in London did not underperform in relation to previous years. "Without understating the problems which arose for candidates on the day in some centres, the public and the profession can be assured that the quality, fairness and robustness of the exam as the final assessment leading to registration were up to the required standard," the GPhC said.

'The GPhC has apologised to students who sat this year’s examination' (Quote from PJ online article)..
What have they agreed to 'apologise' for?...'You have failed as a direct consequence of our own failings, so unfortunately we have just wasted five years of your life. You owe the bank thousands, but you have to accept that we're terribly sorry'??
I haven't felt this angry with the supposed powers-that-be for a long time. They truly are once again proving to be a crowd of clueless idiots, which does not bode well for what is left of our profession.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
What do you want?;..................
I am profoundly distressed at the plight of a student from a working class background like me who has been the pride of their family for going to university. They have been dealt a blow which could well drive someone to an terrible action. To have thought that at last you are going to be relatively secure for the rest of your life and now faced with the shame of failure and perhaps $40,000 in debt is enough to drive anyone to distraction. If the person stayed in pharmacy, no hope of ever paying back the debt and no hope of ever owning their own property. If from an asian background, then no hope of even a marriage. In my day, you might get a 'pass' degree, but no one ever failed completely.
Something must be done. These poor students should have been weeded out after a year at uni if they were never going to make the grade. They have been betrayed.

I don't think it has anything to do with University more to do with the fact that the GPhC are bunch of careless morons who don't give s*** about the pre-regs and pharmacists alike. I looked at the committee of GPhC and its full of people who don't actual practice day to day pharmacy so I wonder what gives them the right to judge who is able and not able. I think the whole pharmacy model in the UK is a bit screwed up but I am sure things will change now because community pharmacy is reaching breaking point!
In that case every student who has failed twice should be interviewed by the GphC to find out what is the reason. They should then receive mentoring from an appointed mentor and be offered a revision course by CPPE with help from the mentor.
As the POW said re the Welsh miners 'something must be done'.

I agree with you Johnep, in fact it wouldnt be so bad if they told you nothing about the exam if you could resit the exam as many times you want but because you have three attempts I think its a bit of a joke really!
