    Indemnity Insurance

I qualify and start working as a locum this coming Monday, but I'm having trouble with getting indemnity insurance. They seem to want my GPhC registration number, but obviously I can't give them this until I appear on the register on Monday. Once they've got my number it'll then be like another week before my policy comes through.

So my question is, how am I supposed to get the indemnity insurance the GPhC requires without having my registration number yet?

Simple answer is you can't. However, does the GPhC really require you to have insurance? I know it's not ideal but you will be covered by your employer's insurance in the interim will you not?

If your number is not in your possession on starting work, then you are acting illegally, and will not be covered at all. Your number is required to sign in as RP.

John - I will have my number when I start work, you get your number after 12:01am on the day you qualify by searching the online version of the register for yourself. Its rubbish that the GPhC doesn't issue certificates

Sounds like you are in legal limbo until 1201 then.
Second thing after finding your reg number is to call the PDA and join.

You can register with the pda now, first 3 months are free for newly qualifieds. Don't need your reg number yet, can tell them as soon as you get it.
