So how did people find it ? I thought the closed had a few tricky questions, but overall was OK despite being heavily community orientated. A lot of people I spoke to afterwards found it difficult. Open and calcs were thankfully straightforward. Worth mentioning the Birmingham centre was absolutely shambolic, starting 45 minutes late and not finishing until 5.

Exam in London was delayed by an hour!! closed book was random, open book was OK, calcz weren't as tricky as i thought they would be, just more long-winded! The wait begins..good luck everyone!

Don't know if anyone else picked up one of the statements on the front of the closed (and probably open paper), which said something like "unless otherwise stated, answer all questions as though a pandemic situation has not arisen...". Must've been written around the time of the swine flu hysteria !

The exam starting an hour late, really threw me off for the rest of the day, for various reasons that I wont get into. Anyways yeah the closed book was alright, maybe 10 tricky questions and the rest were prob ok. Open book was okay, the questions were not hard but I however I was thrown by the calcs, spent the first hour on them and still had loads wrong, so did the rest of the questions in 60mins then spent the last 28mins on the calcs which I think I got 16-19/20 correct in the end. They werent hard I was just being a bit panicky/stupid/sick at the beginning and i wasted alot of time. Nervous now about the idea that I may have filled in the answer sheet wrong etc etc etc. The usual bs I imagine.All will be revealed on the 22nd July!! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

what kind of calculations did they ask. were they similar to the ones you had practised?

Exam results are 22nd july. I think the calcs were ok nothing such as chloroform waters, powders, suppositories/pessaries, syringe driver rates etc came up. One or two mcq's looked very similar to those seen in previous sample papers, methadone dispensing being one that comes to mind. The closed as I mentioned was heavily community orientated, quite a few otc type q's what can be given for xyz or whether pt can buy xyz or should be referred. Anything remotely clinical was scarce. Consent, confidentiality, data protection act was also in it, stuff which you'd have to revise properly before your exam. Also the RP stuff in the MEP is prob not enough for the closed. Drug interactions were straightforward, macrolide and statin, cranberry juice and warfarin. Open was better than I was expecting and found I had enough time to go through the calcs and mcq's a second time.

Well I don't know how much help it would be telling you the questions that came up on the exam however the following tips are useful:

Make sure you know emergency supplies, CD regs, prescription requirements, supplementary prescribing and clinical management plans thoroughly as this kind of thing will very likely be in the closed book. Make sure you're aware of things like poisons, alcohol and vet prescribing but this will probably come in the open book. Nothing on poisons, chemicals or alcohol came up in our exam.
As for calcs, advice is to just keep practising all the different types - dilutions, formulations, doses, iv admin, mol weights, concentrated waters.

I absolutely hated the calculation questions i found them to be so random, i feel so upset with myself i found it so hard, i just cant believe it has come to this i worked so hard for this exam and i end up with this disappointment. What can i do its in the hands of god
