More Pre-reg students than pre-reg places?

Does anyone know if we are near the stage (or at?) where there are going to be more pre-registration students than there are pre-registration placements available?

What with the all the new School of Pharmacies and other companies cutting back on pre-reg places, I was just musing at work whether supply was soon going to outstrip demand.

I know back in the day when Cymru72 done his pre-reg, you could take your pick where to go, but I know times have move on since then with the invention of the wheel etc.
