Re: My random pre- reg related question, answers and events (2)
relating to GP's prescribing for themselves:
The GMC states that GP's should AVOID prescribing for themselves for for those close to them. So although not illegal it is considered bad practice and the GMC also states that GP's who do this without good reason should be referred/reported to them.
PS. Does anyone know where i can do the first aid course in lancashire? (apart from st johns as the only course they have that covers all the topics in the manual (C2.10) is a three day course, i would prefer a one day course) Are there any course that are designed specially for pre-reg trainees?

Re: My random pre- reg related question, answers and events (2)
So what do you actually do as a pre-reg. Im sure it will vary depending where and who you work for. but in general do you work as a dispenser and just collect evidence, do you spend alot of time checking things up/reading, do you just do what youre told, do you spend alot of time observing others, do you spend alot of time just making entries or just labelling, or do you get a good all round daily practice & clinical experience?
Re: My random pre- reg related question, answers and events (2)
I dont seem to be getting any replies. never mind. I do have another question, in terms of entering dispensed cd's into the cd register, who responsibilty is this? bearing in mind there may be other staff working in the dispensary e.g dispenser, pre-reg etc..
Re: My random pre- reg related question, answers and events (2)
In relation to handling fp10 repeat prescriptions say a patient brings in the RA form with six other prescriptions of the other type what do you do. I know that you dispense one of them, file it and keep the ra and non dispensed scripts till the next month, but do all scripts need to be signed by the doctor? Is this in the me?
Re: My random pre- reg related question, answers and events (2)
pre-reg really depends on where u work, manager, staff, how busy pharmacy is...etc, Iv heard of pre-reg's who never had any counter experience, others who did all the methadones non stop, Rx counting ...etc unfortunately it is normally not a good experience for most people, cz they rely on u (ordering things, remembering owings, doin surgery visits.....etc) I have a vague idea about the job in hosp.. it'll b very obvious once uv been on holidays come back and u'd find piles of things waiting to be done, (not sure about otehr pharmacies but at leats the ones I was in and I know of) some pharmacists (old school ones mainly) never let anyone record anything in the CD register (which is understandable!, but some dont even want you to dispense or give advice lol ! others let u do all teh dispensing while other members of staff have tea or just gossip about anything/one( including the pre-reg)
I had no help whatsoever in my pre-reg, no study time, i was told to close BNF whenever I opened it and the list goes on ...!
try CPPE courses they really good, u learn so much stuff about RDs, MURs, smoking cessation..etc as for anything else its all in the DT and BNF, that sums it up i think oh and add MEPG, then learning to use ur ethical judgment in certain situations whether advice, legal pharmacy issue or what have u would come with time, u might disagree on things with ur tutor but you can only go by what he/ decides to do Im afraid, until you pass the famous exam!!
Re: My random pre- reg related question, answers and events (2)
I need some inforamtion relating to home delivery of pharmacy medicines. The fact sheet on the old rpsgb website is missing. I need to know the law and ethical guidance on issues such as posting medicines through letter box, leaving medicines with neighbours, legal requirements etc..
Re: My random pre- reg related question, answers and events (2)
Exactly how long on average would you say it should take the average pre-reg to accurately measure and pout out about 80 methodone doses and enter them in the cd register, while at the same time dispensing the odd prescription/s, answering the phone and serving the odd customer.
