Hi, am posting this on behalf of my nail-chewing wife who is nervously awaiting her fate with the results of the pre-reg examination tomorrow.
However her agony has increased as one of her friends has had her society fees deducted from her bank account today! This would seem to indicate that she must have passed or they would not process the payment?
On checking our account, no fees have been debited from our account. So that has caused her to increase her anxiety levels!!!!
Two other friends have not had any funds debited either, which makes her feel a little better, as she was thinking that that meant she had def. failed!
This reminds me of my pre-reg back in the summer of '94 when a vicious rumour spread that they posted FAIL letters out a day later than the PASS letters. I didn't believe it until the postie turned up on the friday without a letter for me! Your brain whirrs into overdrive! The other pre-reg pharmacists in the chain had already heard and I was starting to fear the worst! Then the postie turned up with the second post and all was fine! (kids - that was back in the olden days when ye olde royal mail came with letters twice daily!)
I see there's also this fear of the size of the letter - thin and small - PASS, big and fat - FAIL!!!
So has anyone else out there had their fees deducted yet???? Please help put my wife's fear to bed please. It's pretty unbearable as it is without this!!!!
Hi, good luck to you I'm so sacred I feel physically sick, my husband said he divorce me if I failed!
Fingers crossed for us both, I want this so badly it hurts.
They can't have taken the fees out yet. The exam board have only just sat over the past couple of days. They'll be more concerned about notifying everyone and I'm pretty sure they won't have had enough time to take out fees.
I can confirm to all and sundry sitting exam in September that you can check if you have passed by checking your bank account they day before/day of the results. One friend definitely had fees taken out on day before exam and another had them drawn the early morning of the results day. They both passed. This is a sorry state of affairs Pharm Soc and adds unneccesary worry to already anxious students. No funds should be withdrawn from accounts prior to results, or alternatively, ALL students should be debited and those failing should be given a credit a few days later.
Again, there's also the small envelope/big envelope pass/fail thing. I know this only puts you out of your misery by notifying you a few seconds earlier, but its not right.
Just another example of the incompetence of the Pharm Soc. I for one dont give two hoots about the 'prestige' of using MrPharmS, and will vote with my wallet come registration time. They can fill their pension black hole some other way.
Agreed Fleegle. Cymru72 I sympathise with your wife for not achieving the pass this time. I can understand what she and also you are going through. 12/20 in calcs in indeed a very bad indication of how the papers were. I truely hope she gets it through in September. I am sure she will and you will support her through.
But I must admit that there is no link between the money being withdrawn and pass being granted. I had my papers sent a week ago still my money is not taken off yet and I did pass. I didn't even get the letter today but my name was there in the list of people who passed. The confusion over size of the envelope is created by past students than the society.
I do agree in some but not all of you comments but ofcourse the society needs lots n lots of improvement and let's hope the new body does show some signs sooner.
