    Minimum of TWO society meetings?

Just few days ago I've been told by a locum that I'll need to attend a minimum of TWO society meetings in order to complete the pre-reg training. Is this true?

I've checked through the trainee workbook and nowhere it was stated. However, few people's been telling me that since I asked around. My tutor haven't been very helpful.

I have always understood this to be so. If you are going to become a pharmacist with no intention of attending a meeting, change your job.

in all honesty i have only attended 1 meeting in the 3 years i have been qualified...and i know of other pahrmacists that haven't attended any....i did attend 2 in my pre reg year just to keep the tutors quiet and get a box ticked. I wouldn't have thought i would need to chnage my job because i haven't attended any local society branch meetings

Well at least you do some initiative by posting here. The majority of pharmacists now just regard pharmacy as a way of earning money. Pharmacy has been my life. ask not what pharmacy can do for you, but what you can do for pharmacy.

Well it could be a bit difficult as the local branch meetings are affected by the society split, and the LPF meetings to replace them are likely to be less local for many people. It can also be difficult to attend if you work late and rely on public transport (or need a babysitter in my case).

Agreed and while my children were young and I was often abroad I was as bad as anyone. However, as soon as the children got older, then returned. Had always attended when student and before children arrived.
