    Pre-reg Funding

    HI,

I am a pharmacy graduate from University of Bradford and have currently completed 18 months pre-reg training (split six months placements). I am required to complete a further 12 months of pre-reg training as advised by the society and I am still looking for suitable placement.

The problem is I have in the past applied to numerous independent pharmacies and have been told they can not offer me the place as their PCT would not provide funding for me. Now I am not exactly sure how the funding system works. But would this be the case everywhere, except for big multiples? I think it is due to the fact that I have already completed 18months.

I should recheck. In the past two six month placements during sandwich course counted as pre reg.

Stick a comma after the word "past". Pre-reg is one year - you have done 18 months why do you need to do another year ?

    I failed the hospital placement.
The last I did not get signed off although I passed all my competencies.

Ok I will contact the society and see what they say about the funding.

Have heard of people failing the pre reg exam, but never the actual placement. However, I would revisit where you say you passed all the competencies. If person no longer there go to his/her superior and ask them to sign you off as other failed to do so for some reason.

The problem she has no superiors it was her own chemist. She even said this to me once 'its my own chemist I can do whatever I want'. Even on the appraisal I had to literally go out my way to prove i had completed each competency even though she had observed me all throughout the placement and I had 5 evidence log sheets for each. This was in 2005.

    Re: Pre-reg Funding

I have previously offered pre-reg placements to at least two students who had failed their exam/other pre-reg placements. The only condition was that the pre-reg would have to fund the placement himself. i.e. I would not be paying a wage.
I may be able to offer the same deal this year.

Now I know how to make a fortune. Open a pharmacy and staff it with unpaid pre regs.

You never pay a wage, the RPSGB does. It would take some stupid enough to fail their pre reg to get duped by someone like you.
