Anyone know anything about technical services??

Hi all,

I'm completing a block on technical services and was wondering if anyone knows the difference between a product licensed product, special manufactured product and Section 10 prepared product, and the differences in the restrictions applied on them.

I have a question on this and I'm really stuck!

Any help would be much appreciated!

MHRA issues 2 licenses for making medicinal products. The Manufacturers license is usually given to the major drug companies and allows them to make specific forms or strengths of a drug. The Manufacturers Special license is the one that most hospitals hold and allows them to make unlicensed products (ie "specials"). They can't make licensed products and must buy these from the companies who hold the first type.
Section 10 refers to that section in the Medicines Act 1968 which simply says that if the work is done under the supervision of a pharmacist, no MA is needed for preparing or dispensing a product in accordance with a prescription given by a practitioner.
