Hi, im doing my pre-reg year now and i just wanted to know the best way of takling the BNF. I've spent time going through a couple of the chaptors but I so easily forget things. Is there any BNF questions or websites to get a hands on approach? Any tips?
My thing would be don't even try and tackle it, Just open a page and read it. (It will come with experience) you get a script and the pmr pops up some interaction with some other drug you asked the pharmacist, If its a new patient you ask if they have had it before surly you have dispensed a medicine and thought oh whats this for? and looked at the info leaflet?
I will give you a Question, you have just dispensed metronidazole.... what do you tell the patient?
I'm only doing the NPA Dispensary Assistants course and know how do get around the BNF,
sorry i don't mean to be rude or anything but even my boss after 27 years in the job still needs to look things up in the BNF as its updated all the time
Cheers for that. Yeah kinda already know the metronidazole one which is to avoid alcohol... Which is probably basic. Ill have a look at the NPA disp course.
