This forum has been mentioned in the Pharmaceutical Journal, 4th March 2006.

It was on the notice board page, and reads: -

ANNOUNCEMENT
Online forum
A new online pharmacy discussion
forum is now available at
www.pharmacy-forum.co.uk

We know the forum members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain will see this, but thought the members from outside the UK, not in the society, would like to know this news.

We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read and post on this forum. The number of members is steadily increasing, and that is great news. The more people we have using the forum, the better it will get.

We feel that this forum is a way of sharing knowledge between pharmacists (and other professionals, technicians etc) a chance to voice your opinion. and hopefully a way of showing the public the knowledge and value pharmacists have to offer. This is our chance to show the world that pharmacy forums are not all websites selling drugs, but can be a place for open honest discussion on a subject that unites us all, in a variety of ways.

Thanks a lot. I am still intending to join your forum, but have looked at it a couple of times and can't seem to find where you sign up for membership.

The fact that they announced this in the PJ was a surprise to me, but a nice one. I guess they must have taken a look at it themselves and approved of it.

Whenever I searched all I got were sites selling drugs, but they all like to use the word forum. To me a forum is a place for open discussion, not just a website selling things, like drugs. Most of the "forums" I have seen have no discussion going on in them, not even a chat room. Just sales. This spoils the search for someone like me, who wanted to find a real discussion forum.

I feel quite proud of this now. I got it going with only a small amount of computer knowledge really, and it seems to be catching on. I'd like a few more fiesty threads though and can think of loads myself, but don't want to look as if I'm starting all the new topics.

Thanks for all your postings, I really appreciate it Linnear. Do you still want to get together on an onlooker article? If so count me in, if you still want me!

Am definitely thinking about it. I just found out that PJ won't publish my letter as it puts no new thoughts forward and plugging our two websites is not allowed in the letters section.
Broad Spectrum should be OK but I'm trying to work out how to write it. Will keep you posted.

OK keep me posted when you have any ideas. Maybe we could do one on the problems of wading through all the drug selling sites to find a real forum !
