Cool How to open a pharmacy from scratch???

My husband has a large retail unit near an NHS medical centre and many requests are made to open up a pharmacy even by the doctors working there. He now wants to consider the idea but I just feel its a timebomb of disasters as I know there must be a million a one regulations and rules to follow of which we know NONE, yes to safe drug storage, yes to qualified staff, yes to alarms NO to anything else. Neither of us are qualified in pharmacy field.

    There are actually 2 options:

    1) Just rent the space out and let someone else set it all up and pay rent or

    2) Sort it all out, make sure its all done properly and get a share of the running profit.

Whilst I prefer option 1 he prefers option 2 in the long run.

We have no idea to anything and was wondering if someone has been in the same position and could give us a few pointers or let us know where to look for further info.

    We are located in Birmingham.

Thank you for any time you take to respond.

    Catherine

If you are not Pharmacists, the cost of employing one for what I think would be a 100 hour pharmacy would be too inhibiting. So best to let a pharmacist do it or go in partnership with them.

First obstacle is to get a pharmacy contract from the NHS.
Also you have to feel comfortable with a pharmacist having what is the final say on most aspects of the business, as they are likely to be the superintendant pharmacist and the responsible pharmacist.
For example, you might want the pharmacy to sell xyz and the pharmacist might no.

You could try the 'franchise model' it could work?

Used to be used by AAH before they bought Lloyds.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................
