    AAaaaaaarrggghhh

Another new forum look - and I have not gotten to grips with the previous one.

I don't know about the rest of you but I come on here to COMMUNICATE and that in the easiest way possible with the maximum number of pharmacists (and itinerant others). Would it not (and I don't think I'm the only superannuated numpty on here) be a good idea to allow some of your members to continue to use an interface they have become familiar with and even take pride in being able to use some of its more clever features to argue their cases more eloquently to express their opinions, thoughts and ideas?

IMHO a forum should be like an old sock. It should be like the old car you kept far beyond its useful life because you knew all of its funny little ways and could cope with them without having to think about it.

    What does anyone else think?

Well, I quite liked the old forum as well, TBH, and I'm driving a 2002 Skoda Ive had since new, but there is no doubt that we have had an influx of new members since the new skins were put on. Perhaps its because we both changed our socks at the same time. I just HATE the idea of coping with blogs and articles, whatever they are - although I appear to have written a short one lol. I thought Fleegle's idea of just appropriating a thread and calling it "My blog" is a great idea.

When you get down to it, the basic forum functionality hasn't altered. It took me a little time to work out how to alter my signature (in the end I used the moderator's control panel which hasn't changed at all thank goodness, but have now discovered I can do it through "settings"), but that's been the worst of it so far.

There are worse messes that can be made with this software. Have a look at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...lay.html?f=149 if you don't believe me. I also act as moderator on a simple machines forum, and an eblah forum, and have worked on a phpbb forum (like locumvoice) as well, and vbulletin is/was the easiest and most versatile to use.
Eblah is the clearest, actually, and is the cheapest to set up, but is a real pain as no-one has bothered to write installation instructions! And when you get into the moderator's panel the software writer displays biblical quotes for your edification.

So, El Loco, it could be a lot worse. Think PJonline and count your blessings.
    ....just my opinion

You need to be realistic here. The fact is the updates will stop for the old vBulletin. This new software has all the old features and a lot more besides. What could be easier to read a bog then to just press the "blog" tab?

Do you think I spent hundreds of pounds on this for a laugh? The "look" of the forum is simply a skin - think of it as make up if you like.

Elaine, one of the hard facts of life. The more you do for people, the more they will complain. I know you are doing your best.

I think El-Loco responds better to old sock analogies.

Think of it as another pair of old socks, El Loco, it won't be long before you can see through the holes.

It used to be us old ones reminiscing about life before computers.
Now the next generation are reminiscing about their old computers.
The more things change the more things stay the same.
(There's a quote in French for that isn't there)
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

If you are referring to the epigram by Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr in the January 1849 issue of his journal Les Guêpes (“The Wasps”), yes.

Who would have thought he would be caught out catching the Metro too: "AAaaaaaarrggghhh No change. It's always the same."

O.K. The old socks will stop getting updates soon and the new socks have lots of new, useful features that outweigh the disruption of having to change them.

So could there be a topic on "Latest features and helpful tips" posted by those in the know. Unless, that is, there already is one that I haven't found yet.

    Thanks John

It hasn't been the easiest of weeks as work has been short here before Christmas, yet this week I've worked six days. I haven't even been late even though we've had a good six inches of snow and the roads have been like sheets of ice!

Ever since I discovered you had to click on the FORUM button I've been fine

Thank you for making such a great forum, Elaine.
