    range A D E F H
    Knowledge K1 K4

A regular customer came into the pharmacy and asked for a cough medicine for her husband, she explained that it was a chesty cough which he had had for a week, she told me he was taking medicine for blood pressure, she didnt know if the phelgm was discoloured, she phoned her husband who said it was clear, i selected a bottle of Robitussin chesty cough mixture, i informed the customer that i would need to check with the pharmacist because of the medication he is taking, i gave the pharmacist all the details and he confirmed the sale of robitussin, i returned to the customer and went through the instructions / recommended daily dose as directed on the box i also suggested that her husband inhale steam to help bring up the phlegm and advised that if the phlegm becomes discoloured Mr x should see his doctor as this could indicate infection, i then scanned the product, placed it in a bag and took payment, the customer thanked me for my help and advice and left the pharmacy.

You have to provide 1 piece of evidence with every report, i put in a copy of the patient info leaflet from the robitussin

    ok so performance criteria
you covered no1 because you were courteous to the customer
no 3 because you went through the instructions to make sure she understands how to use the medication
no4 because you placed the product in a pharmacy bag
    no5 you took payment
no 6 you always check with the pharmacist when a patient is on other medication and you told the customer why
no 8 you gave all the infomation to the pharmacist

    ranges
A - the customer had an idea of what was needed for her husband (chesty cough mixture)
D - she was her husbands representative
E- you gave the customer info about the product and explained everything to the pharmacist
F - you used the PIL/ pack to explain doses to the customer
    H- you sold a "P" Product

    knowledge
K1 you followed pharmacy protocol by comfirming the sale with the pharmacist because the person needing the medicine is taking blood pressure medicine and this must always be refered to the pharmacist

K4 you have a legal responsibility to mention a sale to the pharmacist and he is responsible because he agreed the sale knowing the person taking it is on blood pressure medication
im not very good at explaning things so hope this helps
the idea is that you write down everything you do, you have to cover each criteria/ knowledge/ range at least once, so once youve covered say k1 you dont have to mention it again in any other report but it also doesnt matter if you do
aaah, thats fantastic. thankyou very much for taking time out to help me. this is what mine are starting to look like, so fingers crossed i'll be ok this time. its the first time my pharmacist has tutored nvq3 so he doesnt know what is required so its good to find someone on the same level. i'm sure i'll help with something else soon!!!!!!!!!!!! i've got a couple more to write out as my assesor wants 5 reports per element but hopefully will get a chance to do them soon and then post them off, thanks again.

really glad to be of help, i honestly know how frustrating it can be, let me know if you need suggestions with anything else, im trying to get the health and safety unit 4 done, its so difficult ive even cried, ive been sending other stuff off and left this one till last but now i have to do it and no one at work can help, one of the other girls has just started the buttercup training so not quite the same as me, plus shes doing it online, weve been without a manager for7/8 months but she wasnt really interested anyway, i think there should be someone that we could phone for advice, i phoned another local tesco pharmacy and asked the lady there who is doing the course but she said its taken her seven years so far and shes still not finished *giggles* ive just got another couple of reports to write but finding it difficult to include everything they want
really glad i stumbled on this site tho

    Re: Introduce Yourself !!!

    Hello guys,

I'm a newbie on this forum. Was previously a voyeur - enjoying the discussions from a distance. However thought I'd sign up and see if I can contribute or tap into the combined intelligence on this forum.

I have a background in hospital pharmacy and a small amount of community experience. Being a bit thick, I recently opened a new pharmacy (40 hour contract) about 2 miles away from the nearest doctors practice - I now realise why people only open pharmacies adjacent to or very close to doctors!!

Anyhow, please go easy on me, I'm quick to tears

No, I applied for a 40 hour contract close to where I live (a northern town), with the intention of determining the process of these applications (see how it all works), however before I knew it the application was approved and voila! I'm left with a baby I neither wanted nor needed necessarily at this time.

    Re: Introduce Yourself !!!

Hi everyone, just to introduce myself, I am 27 and I started working in pharmacy as a counter assistant 2 years ago while I was at university and have now worked my way up to the lowly position of trainee dispensing assistant. I work in a small co-op pharmacy and fingers crossed once I finish my current course, go on to work my way up the ladder.

    Re: Introduce Yourself !!!

    Hi All,

    Jason here, literally lol

    So where to begin...hmmmm....lets see

boy graduates university in Mpharm 2005 spends 1 year in hospital training at Oxford, quits to go locuming after a year.
After 4 years locuming has a life-changing event.......Family member passes away........leaving boy with £££££inheritance money....

Boy quits locuming goes to Vegas and spends plenty on strippers and many drinks he can no longer remember the names of.......

Now back in England, aquired deceased members property and deciding to reform oneself and open a 100hr pharmacy....

phew there you have it my life in a nutshell, lol

    well mostly anyway

The "original" Jason Bourne didn't really exist, did he. It was an identity used by several secret agents in order to build up a superhuman-sounding super-agent who would strike immense fear into any opposition.

Just what we need in Pharmacy, as a matter of fact.
    ....just my opinion
