Hi everyone! I'm a pharmacist from Poland, going to move to UK in October this year, to work for Boots in Cornwall. I found this forum while i was looking more for information about working and living in this country. Just wish me luck in starting a new life! |

Hello My name is Brian. I'm moving over from Ireland to Guildford in the next few weeks to start a Masters at university. I hope to work some Saturdays to boost the funds in this uncertain economic climate. If anyone is stuck for locums in the town or surrounds, drop me a line. I haven't worked in the UK before but I should have plenty of time in the first few weeks to get trained and registered. I have worked in Ireland for five years and also did some work in Australia during a year there. Or if anyone has any general tips about adjusting to a new student life in England, I would be interested to hear! Thanks, Brian |

Hi All, I've been qualified just over 3 yrs now. Hospital pharmacist up until now. Absolutely love the clinical side, less keen on NHS buerocuracy and crap pay. Just contemplating moving to community locuming, albeit temporarily,... ![]() Will only be looking for occasional days. All help greatly received!!! Main questions are:How the hell do I learn about the PMR systems; not knowing anything really scares me...
Many Thanks |

PMR systems: Boots was smartscript, now understand moving to nextphase. lloyds is Compass. Superdrug is pharmacy Manager. Go to Cegedim website to read up. Most systems are fairly intuitive and have help readily available. johnep |

RE pmr systems. If you locum for independants at least one of the dispensers should know their own system. I'm basically computer illiterate but I picked up mediphase quite quickly. We have recently switched to proscript which is even better. We turned down nextphase (when it first came out) because it had a few glitches, it allowed you to split special container packs.

Ta v much Jaymags! Think gonna have to find store with ACT/dispenser to start with at least. Feel competent in all other ways, but do so hate to keep pt waiting -(not that many understand all the checks legal/clinical etc etc and the time that can take) -so if I can get up to speed asap before I start locumming so much the better. I'd ask my friends only they are all in hosp pharm (we're a strange lot )BTW, is the drug tariff published on line these days? (and if not why not!), and does anyone have an upto date training package re endorsing. Haven't had to do that in hospital, so it's been a while (ie since pre-reg )Thanks again |
