NVQ3 Unit 1 - dispense meds and products

    Hey everyone,

How are you all getting on with your units etc?
Just working through my unit 1 about dispensing meds and products. Have finally finished it bar one K standard.
Its K8 -The principles of patient group directions and their implications.

I know what PGDs are etc but I was just wondering if anyone did this as a pharmacy question. If so could you give me any hinters at a question I could answer, to answer the above.
I know my pharmacist is supposed to set it but shes been busy and it will take weeks to tie her down. I am hoping to get it done today so I can say bye bye unit 1 hello unit 5 ahhhh lol. any help is much appreciated,
    Thanks Krisi

Think of situations where a PGD might be used, for example someone needing vaccinations for travel abroad, or a patient presenting at an emergency care centre and just being seen by a nurse. I wouldn't get too bogged down with regard to it being in the pharmacy. Remember your training needs to be broad enough to use in a variety of situations.

If you want to keep it in the pharmacy, then I would be thinking along the lines of generic questions such as what is a PGD and how and when would they be used. Would there be any difference in how you would handle the prescription etc.
