    NVQ3 - Just starting

Hi, am due to start my NVQ3 traing within the next 8 weeks, and just wondered if anyone who has already done it could let me know if there is anything i could be studying now to give myself a head start, ie, some prep or background reading on any specific areas.
    Many thanks.

I'd say just make the most of your free time & enjoy the sunshine while you can!

    Urukhai,

I would make sure that you have the reference books that you need before starting the course. Compulsary ones are: BNF; DRUG TARIFF; MEP. It would also help you later on in the course (when you start to do more 'clinical' stuff), if you can get hold of some old a-level biology books. One book I found very useful throughout the course was 'Community Pharmacy' by Paul Rutter.

    Hope that helps

Many thanks for the advice...have managed to get copies of everything, just need to look out for a good biology book. Have a weeks holiday coming up next week so will be able to get plenty reading done then in preparation. The "Community Pharmacy" book is great, and i managed to get it from Amazon for 90p...bargain!
    Thanks for your help.

I know, was really chuffed! It was reduced because someone has written lots of notes on the pages...but to be honest, the notes are pretty useful and there are some good tips written in the margins, lol!
Thanks for the good luck message...will do my best.
    Take care

Hi Urukhai, good luck for the course.

Just out of curiosity did you pay for the NVQ3 yourself or did your employer?

No, they decided that they would pay for me to do it, as they had assured me they would at my interview, so I didnt have to fund it myself in the end. Thank goodness!

Good luck with it . Expect lots of hard work . I am on module 13 and the end is in sight :-). I have found what you put into it you get back with your marks . I am happy to say i have not had to resubmit anything yet so am happy about that . I know some one who had to resubmitt a few but then you increase your work . My advice is to do a really thorough job of the case studies and short answer questions and do extra reports to ensure you cover everthing .

    GOOD LUCK
