Hey black horse, as far as im aware theres no time frame in terms of when you can start the nvq3 after completion of the nvq2 - just get your bosses onto it - however there are specific take in dates three times a year or something like that - so you'll be restricted that way depending on when you want to start it. I believe the closing date has just passed for starting the nvq3 in April and looking at the npa website the new dates havent been released yet. Make the most of your freedom for now hehe![]()
Hi Rachel
If I remember rightly I think I had to do an aptitude test (maths and english) before commencing my NVQ3, then I registered onto the next available course. Enjoy your freedom while you can xxx
Hi- don't think I had to do an aptitude test. As soon as I'd completed NVQ2 my pharmacist (September I think) sent off form for 3. Then had to wait for next run to start- which was in the New Year. Definately make the most of any rest time. As you can tell from a lot of the times posts are made on here, once you start you'll be working all hours!
'.unfortunatly it was in horses not humans,'
Another degree taken in what interested you rather than getting a job at the end of the course. I suspect you really wanted to be a vet. Cox and Robinson was an agricultural chain of pharmacies. Such a pharmacy could well suit you.

Actually I was a manager of a very large competition yard and wanted to specialise in advance reproductive techniques. I was planning on studying in Kentucky and study how genetics and environment can influence the genetic potential of equine athletes. My dissertation was in equine biomechanics and the influence of varying common competition equipment on the horses balance, angular rotation of movement and centre of mass. Unfortunately I suffered a bad injury duing my university course and with the disability this had left me the more physical aspect of what I was planning to do would be increasingly hard.
Nevertheless, I do not regret my degree, but I undertook it with a different future in mind to the one I live now. I manage my condition to the point where I can cope with the bad days and my job doesnt place undue stress upon them. I love my job and am loving learning again.
Gosh, I am so sorry to hear your story. I live half hour from Newmarket where you would have been very welcome, Worked at both Lloyds and Superdrug there. Only place where several addicts were private pts. My daughter devoted to horses and owned one for many years. Unfortunately her favourite developed ring bone and broke her heart when had to be put down. She has no horse now as has had a couple of years of hard luck in getting a job in HR. Can only get maternity cover.
I wish you well in what ever you do.

Fair play to you Black-Horse. Glad you're enjoying learning again. This forum is great for getting to hear other people's stories, and how they're getting on.
Good luck to you,
Ginny![]()
