nvq 3 unit 4

Hi I hope everyone got good christmas break and didnt work too hard! Im bit confused with unit 4, its about risk assesment, how many hazards I have to put there? are those hazards gonna be marked only for element 4.1 or for 4.2 too? If someone finished that unit - nightmare, can please help me? how many hazards i have to put there. thanks a lot xxx

Hey barbaram,

I am assuming you mean the actual risk assessment you have to provide for the unit - if that is the case I think I put 5-6 hazards in total (I did this unit last year and I don't have my coursework to hand to look so this is from memory.) I was at a bit of a loss how many to put as well - I didn't want to put too few incase I failed the assessment, and at the same time I didn't want to put too many and make our pharmacy look like a death trap!
However, I work in a supermarket pharmacy and they carry out a risk assessment anually so I also used some of that to help me - one of the main issues I put is that we don't actually have a fire extinguisher in the pharmacy itself, only in the consulting room...which you have to leave the pharmacy and enter through a seperate (and usually locked) door in order to obtain it. Perhaps not a major issue as at least we have a fire extinguisher in the department but I put it down as a hazard and it was accepted.
If I remember correctly you have to write an activity report about doing the risk assessment so I am fairly sure that covers more then one element - but without knowing what they are off the top of my head I can't verify that. Anyway, hope that helps a little!

Hi i only put 3-4 i also put things like boxes in front of fire door, spilt paracetamol susp on floor and pulled rubbish out of the bin all deliberatley and took photos for the evidence. I passed and didn't have to resubmit.

Hi, Thanks for the encouragement. I got a prescription for methoroxiate tabs,spillage photo what else i need to back up this unit 4. How to put things together. I am confused.
