    Actually never had a state benefit in my life in terms of cash.

    Me neither, although at one point in my life it was more ignorance of the possibility than a lack of qualifying.

    And I suppose I'm choosing to ignore student grants and, indeed, the whole university education I received free - not the case nowadays.
