A long time since I had to do this in a management course:
S specific
M Measurable
A Achievable
R Realistic?
T Timed.
Ie a SMART objective should be concerned with the topic in hand, should be some measurable target or gaol, should be possible (not I intend to win the lottery tomorrow), Not sure if I have got realistic correct, Timed, should be achievable within specified time frame.
Be careful on the internet, I was guided to some very doubtful sites, So in the end relied on memory.

SMART and para linguistic communication are both described in the Module 5.
Patient returned MST can be destroyed and witnessed by the pharmacist, whilst the destruction of expired CDS must be witnessed by an authorised person e.g rpsgb inspector or Home Office inspector.
Hope that makes sense, I've had a couple of drinks!

Hi Mel,
this is my second attempt to answer you. I don't know what happened first time. If you look in the module, it's written very nicely in there.
Customer returned CDs don't require much fuss. A technician can do it with the pharmacist witnessing or vice versa. A log must be kept (patient's name, address, date of return, how many tablets/capsules/whatevers and date of destruction)
Slightly different with out of date ones. An authorised person must be the witness, who is specially called from somewhere. It does vary, but he/she must have this authority. When we did it it was one of the bid area pharmacy managers. Also a log should be kept, and also there must be an entry in the CD register. Obviously these drugs are still accounted for as part of stock, because they are sitting in the cabinet. An entry must be made on destruction so to correct stock levels.
Hope it helps.
Good luck
Alice
