Support staff: NO promotion OR recognition

    the title says it all

honestly, its a disgrace how the support staff are treated at my new place (not going to name trust - cuz that would be suicede)

nearly all the support staff have been in the same role for donky's yrs. they are not promoted or even acknowledged by others. which is really rude!

its really shockin how management underestimate the power of a simple pat on the back. they need to be recognised for the hard work they do and rewarded appropriately.

all im saying is that the strong should help the weak in the wk place/society...........now is that too much to ask. i think not.

i know eveyone wks hard and the senior staff have a lot more responsibility. i get that, but they rewarded handsomely unlike little people.

it really gets me when the strong walk all over weak.

Always been a problem with pharmacy, even more so now community is being 'corporatised'.
Vocational folk have always been neglected in favour of flavour of the month staff who don't stay long.
Person A gets a bollocking for nipping out to the doctors because they are working through a chest infection, and never took a day off sick - ever.
Person B sprains back canoeing at weekend and gets flowers and chocolates sent round.
Guess who is still there after 15 years?
    Its person A.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

maybe your support staff should shout up and complain about it all, or even walk out (i've seen it happen)...then see what the seniors have to say about it all....without the support, surely the structure will begin to topple??

I know how you feel. This sort of thing happens everywhere, not just a pharmacy issue. When it's happened to me, i've been a complete pain in the ass and done something. Made quite a name for myself in one of my previous professions but I hated the treatment some members of staff were experiencing. Sometimes speaking up helped, other times it didn't but you have to speak up. Are you part of Unison?? Have you any staff reps?? Are there specific issues or just a "I hate this place" feeling??

An absolute last resort is to leave and make sure you voice the reasons for leaving. But be careful when naming and shaming on the internet. Some companies can get a tad p***** off when named on a public website........

as a tax payers we have a right to whistle-blow on the nhs, but rmbr you should always be fearful of reprisals - losing your livelihood isn't really worth it!
