Level 3 Information Day

Hi.
I've just started my Level 3 Year 1 today. There was a letter saying about an Information day which they recommend you attend. Does anyone know if it really matters if you don't go? The nearest course is over 100 miles away so I don't really want to go if I don't have to. At the same time I don't want to make the course even harder by not going! Any advice anyone?

I'm really glad I've found this Forum as I don't know anyone else doing this & I think I'm going to need some like-minded friends

This is the 1st time I've ever used a Forum too, so I hope I'm doing this right.

I've not heard of an NVQ 3 info day before. Anything we needed to know, we either found out for ourselves or rang our external verifier (course provider). Maybe this is a new thing for students.....If both yourself and your tutor/assessor feel you have enough info on your NVQ 3 as it is, then don't bother going. But if you both have many questions that you need help with, it would be worth the trip. Discuss this issue with your tutor.
There are loads of folk on here (support staff section) that have been or are going through the NVQ 3 so you are not alone. Any questions you do have with direct ref to the course modules that you need help with, then please post as much info within the question so more people can help.

Hi,

The information day is really helpful. The one I went on explained all about how to write your activities for the units, how to claim for the PC, ranges and knowledges and what evidence you need. I was there from about 9 till 4 and they did loads of example ones and went into loads of details giving tips and advice. Also advice on how to cross reference your activities so that one you maybe write for the OTC sales unit may also be used and cross referenced to another unit you do 6mths later.

They didnt do anything on the info day about the modules as this is all pretty straight forward - read the txt book and answer the questions.

I would ring the NPA and make sure they dont have one nearer cos am sure they do loads up/down the country.

If your pharmacist knows all about it or another colleague has done the NVQ3 with evidence supplying then am sure they will be able to explain it all just as well if you cant get to the day.

Im guessing it depends where u go but me and my friend werent sure whether to go. We had different dates. She went and ended up more confused than she was originally. I didnt go and managed to make sense of all the evidence collection etc, guess its pot luck. Ive not had any probs understanding course material etc though and havent been

I went on one of these information days and found it very useful, they give you lots of info on how to write things so you get it right first time, would reccomend it although not sure if its worth such a long journey

Hi, this is my first post but i wanted to let you know i found the info day useful! I've still got 6 months to go but only found this site yesterday! They explain how to do the activities and how to re-use evidence. The best bit for me was showing examples of ex-pupils work. That really helped me visualise what they expect from you! Hi ginny... yeh i have just started my NVQ 3 and im going to the open day with my pharmacist. We werent sure weather to go or not. But i guess it will be useful otherwise they wouldnt do it! I live in bristol and i have to go to birmingham for mine. So its a bit of a trek for me too! Good luck with ur NVQ! Its a bit scary, ive had a quick flick through it. Hopefully it wont be too hard. xx

I decided against going, just hoipe I made right decision. It would have been helpful in the Units for evidence had arrived beforehand so I could have seen if I'd understood!
Good luck with your NVQ too! I've nearly finished Module 5. Couldn't believe how long the Progression Assessment took! x
