I work in a veterinary practice where we are thinking about using a part time Pharmacy tech. to handle our drug/consumable ordering and stockcontrol management systems , making sure of practice adherence to vet pharmacy regulations including maintaining the computer data base for label/dispensing information and making sure repeat meds have been checked and signedoff by vets and similar duties . At present these duties end up split between veterinary nurses and reception staff rather than being one specific persons responsibility.
My question relates to what level of training/qualifications should we need to be looking for in applicants or indeed is this the sort of job that a pharmacy tech is the right person for?
A final..... rather cheeky question is what ball park hourly rate do qualified techs normally gethttp://www.pharmacy-forum.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif
Can I be cheeky and ask you where the job is?? A qualified, registered Pharm Tech normally gets £8.00 plus in community pharmacy, a bit more in hospital depending on grade etc. If you do decide on a PT, don't be cheap......
