Can anyone tell me if I have calculated this correctly?

Child suffers from anaphylaxis to peanuts. He weighs 5st 5lb. What strength EPIPEN does he require?

Child weighs 75lbs ÷ 2.2lbs = 34kg
He would need Epipen 0.3mg

5 pounds = 2.26kg
Total= 34.01Kg

BNFc 2009 states
Acute anaphylaxis
By intramuscular injection
Child over 30 kg
300 micrograms repeated after 5–15 minutes as necessary

Child 15–30 kg
150 micrograms (but on the basis of a dose of 10 micrograms/kg, 300 micrograms may be more appropriate for some children) repeated after 5–15 minutes as necessary


So child needs 0.3mg Epipen.
