Courses to become Act (Accredited Checking Technician)

Can I enrol on an ACT course, with the NPA or anyone else (community, not hospital), if I'm not a RPSGB registered technician?

I am definitely eligible to register right now, but I'm unwilling to pay to register until I have to do so (July 2011). (I don't want my boss to pay for me either, until she has to. She has said she will do it for me before July 2011 if it is a requirement for training as an ACT though.)

So, my question is: Can I train to become an ACT (community, not hospital) without being registered?

I now have a supplementary question:

After compulsory technician registration, in July 2011, will my ACT qualification cease to be valid unless I register with RPSGB?

any ideas folks? I think the answer must be yes, but if anyone can provide a reference to some definitive evidence I'd be grateful.

On the subject of being registered and starting an ACT course, some companies will not enrol you on their training courses unless you've had two years post NVQ 3 qualification experience AND you have to be registered. I don't think this applies to every pharmacy company though.....

No, it is on the job training. You will not get a visa if Non EU.

Can a dispenser get enrolled on the ACT course if they have completed the technicians course and waiting for their registration to be processed?

Some companies need you to send your Tech registration number to be able to enrol on the ACT course. Don't know if this applies to every company. Give your company's HR department a ring. They should be able to inform you of their particular rules.
