Post Re: Pharmacy Technician from USA

Johnep
I am in UK and resident of UK. I have right to work in USA. I also have USA qualification which have no use or value in UK. I will try your suggestions and see what happens. I only thought of working in pharmacy after certified and thought that it will be easy to get in pharmacy field in home country. I was offered job as Pharmacy Technician in CVS Pharmacy on basis of my retail experience and Pharm Tech certificate in USA. Now I got in to this mess. Nonumployable, old and of no use.
Thanks for your guidance and support.

Never! You have showed more gumption than others half your age. If you are near a shopping mall then pharmacies here often need staff and sometimes mall has list of vacancies. One reason why suggested take anything is that it is always easier to find work when you are already working. Believe me, I have been there.

Five minutes to learn till, you already have retail experience and maturity should be appreciated on the healthcare counter. Once in, rest up to you. There is chronic shortage of dispensers or pepole willing to learn.
Good Luck.

There seems to be a chronic shortage of everyone!

Thumbs down Re: Pharmacy Technician from USA

If shortage of skilled or qualified staff than why I am struggling. There is all red tape caused by this registration. It's not protecting the cause of Pharmacy Staff but frightening off the people who want to come in to the trade. Well I will keep trying and see how far my experience and knowledge take me.

Yes, that's exactly what it does do in a lot of cases.

While surfing I came across Pharmacy Assistant online course. It cost around 500 pounds. Is there anybody who have done course? Is recognised by RSPGB? Will it be helpful to gain employment in NHS at bottom level in Pharmacy. I have basic knowledge as I am certified in USA as Pharm Tech. I have lots of retail experience in UK and USA.

hi all just sitting in st lucia catching up with emails and forums. Just noticed you referred to pharmacy aa 'trade'. Been our trouble for years as we struggle for recognition as a profession.

Hi Johnep
I hope you have lovely time there. SUN and SAND will do you lot of good.
Pharm Tech is not recognized as profession because people only see PHARMACISTS as professional and highly educated. The other reason is the amount Pharm Tech and dispenser or Pharm Assistant is peanuts or same as general shop assistant. They only see all other as just assistants.
I will also like to know that I came across distance learning course for Dispenser /Assistant. The trainer is dcalearning.co.uk. Is the course recognized by RSPGB and will be any equivalent to NVQ.

Forget the e-mails and settle down and read Omeros.
If you do feel like exploring Walcotts books - Try to get to see the altarpiece of the Roseau Valley church (feature in Walcotts St Lucie)
It might be easier to see Dustan St Omer murals at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Castries though.
