hi im in the same position, ive just started my nvq level 3. i am totally baffled with all the pc's, knowledge, ranges etc! i have no manager or regular pharmacist and its always far too busy or too short staffed for me to get any help at work! i'm doing the health and safety module first but i don't know where to start! anyone else doing this at the moment? boogie x

I've found that if ya sit and read it and read it and read then plan how you can intergrate each range together with the pc's it makes it slightly clearer, my best idea is to plan plan plan before puting pen to paper, ie: I had an angry customer with special needs (wheelchair) who could't get thru the shop doors because we short shortstaffed due to illness and were too busy to notice him trying to force the doors open for his access, meaning you have covered the ranges busy, special needs and angry all in one essay. the more ranges you can cover in one piece of work means less writing!! hope this helps a little bit.

also the best way to check you've covered all the pc's, ranges and knowledge requirements is to do them one by one rather than try find them all in one go, the knowledge is what you need to know to do the job, ie special needs customer (wheelchair), you would know that helping him was a customer service knowledge requirement, special needs means he would need more help than a able bodied customer in some situations (adapting to his needs) and another range would be how you dealt with his anger. Follow the same sort of method with H+S and you'll soon work it out, ISH!!!!!: ![]()

thanks for your replies, i think ive got the idea, its just a case of what to write about. silly thing is its seems simple but when you have to put it on paper, i just go blank! ive done element one now, does anybody know if i need to cover every pc in each report or as long as i have covered them all in the whole element that is enough. what i have to do for elemnet one is 7 pc's and 2 ranges. ive written 2 reports, in the first one i covered one of the ranges and all 7 pcs, and in the second i covered the second range but only two pcs. for the next element i have to show that i can make sure health n safety risks dont happen in the pharmacy by the use of safe working methods. am i on the right lines if i write a report on sorting and disposing of patient returns following the company h&s guidelines? sorry to be a pest! x

no you don't have to cover every pc in each report if you've covered them satisfactorily enuf in earlier reports, you can also claim reports in element 2 from reports you made in element one, just put on the evidence form pls see element one, range e etc etc but make sure it is covered as they may be worded different to trick us and may need more information than we gave in element one or vice versa it is exactly the same question with information you've already given which would meet the standard asked for but could be worded different again to confuse us!!!!!!! I've just done a customer who is waiting to make a complaint who wants names and adresses of head office saying that our pharmacist wasn't on the premises, hence I've covered all the PC's with ranges K (making a complaint) and G (resources not available meaning the pharmacist) in the same report......... NITEMARE, i've got headache, e e e!!!!!!! ![]()

Hey there, I've just finished my first module on NVQ2 and believe me I spent 2 (and a bit) weeks trying to work it out, easiest way to me was to look at the ranges first then the pc's, you need to combine the ranges (situations at work and type of customer) into the pc's (which customer service skills would you use) then add in the knowledge (standard procedures or policies) you would use to deal with the customer. Ie: 1. pick the customer (range a, b, c, or d) 2. pick the situations (range e to n) 3. follow operating procedures and policys for your pc's 4. the knowledge youm need to serve the type of customer in the type of situation (range e to n) 5. Knowledge requirements - what you need to know to deal with the above situation(s) In one of mine I had range b, range f (quite i did plannagram), range M, range L. Lady with clear idea of needs, store was quite i saw (our plannogram when customer approached) explained forms of OTC treatment (ie, capsules, caplets, tablets) gave customer health advice/information leaflets. Hope you get that, can't think how else to try explaine, hope it helps ![]()
