    the 'barbie' pill

In 2006 the firm Epitan release finally in the US and the UK their new wonderdrug Melanotan !! Having been trialled in Aus and the US, this drug increases the skin's bility to produce Meanin I believe (might have got that wrong) to protect you from the sun. Amazingly, side effects soon became very evident, namely making people feel really horny and totally without any appetite for food, hence the Brbie pill label !! How weird that these wonder products or designer drugs have started to appear.

Doubtless people will all pile in and buy this product, I may even try it myself who knows.

What do you pharmacy guys think of the designer drug wave, guess you are sceptical until you see proper evidence eh ?

    Evidence

Just like any scientist we pharmacists want to see proper scientific rigor applied to any new medication. This is usually in the form of clinical trials etc. Evidence based medicine is what it's all about today.

I don't know a lot about this drug, but as I understand it, it's a tanning pill that helps erectile dysfunction.

Have you got other problems apart from your lovely lardy arse???

Understanding that this is an ancient post but a frequently repeated misconception about the drug implant that Clinuvel (formerly Epitan) is developing. Melanotan-1 has got no sexual effects at all whatsoever.

The "barbie drug" phrase originating from this Wired Magazine article refers to Melanotan II, the second melanotan peptide that has the arousal aspects.

Clinuvel has just received FDA approval to begin human testing of Melanotan-1 (under the generic name "afamelanotide") in the United States.

The latest Wired article about the Melanotan peptides covers this latest development.

    Cheers,
