One of Miss Devani’s staff reported the matter to a company representative on 10 May and told him of her attempts to organise a cover up. On 11 May, Miss Devani telephoned the representative and told him that in the course of a stock check the previous day it had been discovered that a Concerta XL tablet was missing, which was untrue. Also on 11 May the CD record had an entry made to correct the number of Concerta XL tablets accounted for to 43, but some time later Miss Devani realised that this was in conflict with what she had told the company representative, which was that the tablet had been discovered to be missing on 10 May. So she gave instructions for the date of the entry in the record to be changed to 10 May. This was done on 17 May.

Beggars belief, what was the thinking? The act of going out of her way to lie over something which itself would not carry a sanction/disciplinary just brings her character into question.

Oh well I'm sure with two months off she'll have time to think about it.

This the result of the climate of fear that has built up with the worry of striking off etc.
I have had similar incidents in the past and just made a note in the CD reg for regular pharmacist to take action if necessary.

Damn right. Fear makes rational people do irrational things.

Had the police check CD stocks a while back in a place I do a fairly regular locum. One tablet of something or other short -- it might even have been concerta. No-one had noticed, and it hadn't been dispensed for many months, and by me never.

"What do you think has happened to the missing tablet?" asks the police

So, I could have come up with all kinds of excuses and scenarios, but instead, I just said "No idea."
