If you decide to quit the RPS and then change your mind

Many pharmacists see no benefit in remaining members of the RPS.

They may be right, they may be wrong but, unlike the GPhC if you change your mind it won't cost you anything - I promise. Re-join when you find out it's not so bad an idea after all. You don't believe me? See what the chair of the english pharmacy board says: LocumVoice • View topic - What if you change your mind?

She means it guys! And if you really want a hug from the chair of the english national board - and I can personally recommend it - go get one.

Seriously, we are between a rock and a hard place. There IS an alternative but please, GOD, don't make me go there.

The PJ and Clinical Pharmacist are member benefits of the RPS. There are many more

RPS fees are not due till 1 March 2011, so you're getting an extra 2 free months to decide whether to renew.

I think there are going to be a lot of the old cynical pharmacists like myself. who are going to think long and hard as to whether it will be worth their while retaining their membership with the RPS. They are probably thinking, like me - 'what has the society ever done for me? What support have they ever given us?' - and be left scratching their heads for an answer.

I'm not fooled by the caring, sharing 'new' society.

The 'two months free' and 'we've listened to you and have moved the payment date away from xmas' and possibly offering quarterly/monthly direct debit payments - Is it cynical old me again or is it strange that this has only happened now that membership is now optional and we have a choice what to do with our money? All the years when these requests fell on deaf ears.

And it brought a wry smile to my face to see the RPS criticising the GPhC for the yearly fee set! Pot - Kettle - Black springs to mind! Do they not remember the 50% fee hike in 2008?
