    Declaration of Helskini

This is old news as you can see from the date, but I cannot ever remember seeing any reference to this in the PJ. There also only appears to be a few people (7) who replied to it, which I always found interesting. What do others think of this? Is it acceptable to put point 5 alongside the others? Is point 5 in itself not worthy of an official response? Like I say I know it's old news, but I have always wondered what others thought of this.

    Interesting Link

    Elaine

This is just the kind of thing this forum is for. I admit I have never seen this before, but feel quite insulted by the inclusion of "point 5" as you call it, within the other subjects on that list!

If you have any more interesting links please post them.

    Good Stuff, keep it coming!

    WMA Statement

    Elaine

Did you know about this when it was first written? How did you find it? It's unbelievable we are put into this list!

    The WMA also agreed to:

Reinforce its guidance to doctors not to take part "in any way" in capital punishment

Support informed donor choice in organ transplantation (countries which have adopted an "opt-out" system where by people's organs will be used for transplantation if they have not stated otherwiseare urged to ensure this does not diminish informed donor choice)

Express concern about prison conditions, which provide the breeding ground for infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and HIV

Support the Indian Medical Association in condemning the practice of female feticide and circulate national medical associations with a statement on the issue

Issue a public statement making it clear it is improper for pharmacists to be involved in diagnosing and treating illness

    BMJ 2000;321:913 ( 14 October )

It's a bit late to post a reply to this, but at least there are a few positive posts there. I'm stuck for words on this (well civil words that is!)
