I notice chlorphenamine is in the list so I wonder if Piriton will be banned for under 12's too? I hope not!
Yet again we have to hear about this from the news. Why can't we be forewarned??
I'm buying myself (my daughter's 7) a couple of outers of Tixy cough and cold on Monday. 'nuff said.
There is, according to David Pruce (V. senior at RPSGB, can't remember his exact title), as posted on another pharmacy forum, a "Dear Pharmacist" letter in the post. It was all supposed to be announced next week. However, someone leaked the matter to the Beeb, with the results we know.
Why David doesn't make himself aware of, and post on, all there boards I don't know.
I gave my daughter(13 months) 10ml of Medised last night as she's teething and has a runny nose...again...nuff said!!I'm buying myself (my daughter's 7) a couple of outers of Tixy cough and cold on Monday. 'nuff said.
I regret my kids were brought up on Phenergan, Mucron, Kwells, tixylix etc.
When they both had whooping cough and were being constantly sick, then kwells saved us from a spectacle of a child retching.

Cold. Why would i give it for a cough? So were you treating a cough or a cold?
and last I heard paracetamol helps teething pain!
Yet again another punch in the face for pharmacists. Being released in the press first makes it sound like the good old newspapers are yet again protecting the public, while us pharmacists have been deliberately supplying dangerous products for years! Oh what joy my next day in the pharmacy is going to be.
However, I'll still take a few minutes to offer the same old and trusted advice about saline nasal drops, glycerin based throat lozenges (and general non-medicated symptomatic relief advice) as before when questioned about the best thing for their child, but now they won't be able to say at the end of the consultation "oh, actually I'll just have a bottle of X because it's been on the telly!"
Good and bad sides to every story. I shall however reserve judgement until I have my first query about "what other rubbish are we selling?"
