Best way of avoiding this mistake? Don't work for Lloyds!
Why?
Not enough quality staff in a busy LLoyds in my experience. Insufficient time for training usually.
Lloyds more interested in the bottom line than quality of patient care.
Spot on. Worked for this bunch on many occasions and its been the same whichever branch i've been in. All they want you to do is sell the medelec rubbish, push the EXRX rubbish despite a great PCS system and do all the highly annoying paperwork etc. Dispensing always seems to be the last thing on their lists. Boots are no better. Same types of problems. I guess this is modern community pharmacy now. Actual dispensing and looking after the health of customers/patients seems to be an afterthought.
So if you've just taken 2 major employers out of the framework who would you suggest working for?
I reckon Co-op, or any of the supermarket chains like Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Morrisons are all better to work for than Lloyds or Boots. I feel as if they are a lot less strict in terms of MURs etc and put more of a focus on patient safety as opposed to squeezing every last penny out of pharmacy. That might be because pharmacy is only a very small part of their business.
True ... I have worked for Morrisons and I am impressed by their safety requirements. The only issue for me is that I try and avoid supermarkets generally due to an ethical dilemma. I generally distrust organisations that allow the sale of cigarettes and smoking cessation products under one roof. Suppose that this principle can also be extended to cheap alcohol sales etc ....
I know that 'technically' they are allowed to do this, but I do have to think long and hard when I accept a locum from them. For this reason, they tend to be a 'last resort' for me. Luckily for me, I haven't needed to work in a supermarket for a while.
Just my humble opinion![]()
