Gave in script to local Boots this morn for gran. Supposed to have cozaar comp 50/12.5 but was given 100/12.5 instead. Checked later by chance and so had to go back in. Pharmacist apologised several times saying they were "busy because of the Xmas period". Busy eh ? There were about 4 patients waiting when I first handed it in. 20 min wait and they still couldn't get 1 item right.

Well it just happened to be by chance that I checked what she was taking with her repeat otherwise she would have taken it without checking. Interesting to note that the label didn't have the dispenser's or the pharmacist's signature.

in this situation I would have thought the vast majority of people would not "complain" BUT would come in and ask that the product be swapped to the correct flavour & expect an apology & that would be the end of it...if it happened to the same patient on more than one occasion then I would expect some form of complaint...oh how neive i am![]()
Maybe get another person to check it, I know it's quicker if the Pharmacist dispenses and then just gives it out without another person checking but in hospital pharmacy ALL dispensing is checked regardless if dispensed by the dispensary manager, Chief Pharmacist or an assistant! Just good pratice, especially for CDs.
