Do I need my own personal indemnity insurance if I work for a multiple?

I'm pretty new to this forum thing and have found it really interesting and a bit of an eye opener... Now I'm terrified! I've read the horror stories and the jail sentences and the members of the public dropping dead...eek! The PDA - good investment? I'm moving jobs in a couple of weeks to a large multiple, have they got my back if something goes wrong or am I naive tothink they will be on my side?

Yes you are naive, if they can dump you in it, they will. Join the PDA. You know it is right. If still not sure, who would defend you in a dispute with your employer? the employer or the PDA. No contest.
Look how Tesco's have managed to avoid any censure in recent case. Next time it could be you and has happened to people on this forum.

Yep ur gonna need indemnity insurance.its only a couple of pennies compared to what u will earn. The npa cover u for £99 for the whole year which is excellent.they have an online service. You will definately need it for boots and asda.

Many thanks for the comments...I can't believe its taken me 18 months to get my act together and sort it out. I guess at the end of the day I'm the one on the front line...no one else is gonna protect me least of all BTC!

Before you accept NPA cover, ask if they will help you in a dispute with your employer? 2/3rds of cases dealt with by the PDA involve disputes with employers. Go on their site and read some case histories.

BTC will not employ you unless you have your own indemnity insurance.

And, yes the PDA is the one to get, like Johnep says.
    ....just my opinion

...And the premium is tax-deductible, even if you're an employee, so it'll cost you even less than you think in "real" terms.

i thought as an employee pharmacist the multiples contribute to the NI and deduct the income tax from your monthly income.
