A Profession to be proud of

BBC - Food intolerance test - Watchdog - Blog

So is a representative body meant to defend pharmacies/pharmacists that
    offer this test?

Will a responsible pharmacist be expected to say "No, this is bollocks -
    not while I'm responsible?"

Which organisation is expected back them if they were to do so?

Will future regulatory bodies seek to curb such "bad science"?

Are we just shop keepers and its all about profit margins?

Thats why Im considering studying medicine 'GEP' after my Pharmacy degree !

    GMC duties of a doctor:

    Be honest & trustworthy,
Avoid abusing your position as a doctor 'Pharmacist' in this case.
    etc it goes on.

How can this device be in the patients best interest.

Oh I hope you are up & about soon Johny !

Still housebound at present. May venture outside next week taking a turn around the little square on which we live.
    Thanks for your good wishes.

Probably the "General Pharmaceutical Council" as in "General Medical Council" etc.

Yes, its going to be called the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPharmC, or GPhC for short).

As far as i am aware, the GPharmC will work like the General Medical Coucil. Its going to take over the regulatory roles of the RPSGB and a few things may change. RPS are taking steps to change the monitoring of CPD now as they know this will become an integral part of what the GPharmC will do.

I doubt the new professional body will be defending individual pharmacists as such, you will probably still need to rely on the PDA for things like that. However, the NPB (apprently going to be called the Royal Pharmaceutical Society...) will probably stand up for the whole profession if they are not happy about something that is happening... hopefully to greater effect than has been experienced recently. What i wonder is, if a pharmacist/locum is diciplined for refusing to offer such a service, would the NPB release a statement of opinion stating how it does not agree with the action?
