Question Currently working but job hunting

    Hey there folks!

Currently a community store-based working for a large multiple in an area of the country hundreds of miles away from my friends and family. Nice store and enjoy the environment but I'm a bit lonely so I'm starting a job hunt back up where I want to be (scotland)

Should I be offered an interview, what's the best way to proceed with getting time off for them? Do I tell my managers that I'm job hunting or do I keep it from them and try to concoct excuses should I actually get invited to an interview? I'm just worried that things will get really awkward if I tell them I'm looking for a new job. Is there an established etiquette for this kind of thing?

    Thanks guys!

Can't you just ask for a day's holiday if you get invited for an interview? Its your business what you do with your day off, you get a certain allocation of days and whether you're going on a cycling holiday of Belgium with your estranged second cousin, marrying a relative stranger as a plot for them to get a British passport, getting up at midday, eating melted ice cream with your bare hands and watching repeats of 'Are You Being Served' or going to a job interview with your time off is for you to know and them to eventually find out when you end up in hospital in Bruges after a tandem accident/get arrested for violating immigration laws/get fat from too much runny Haagen Dazs/get a new job.

Yes, a bit difficult to throw a 'sickie' in retail. Only time I had off in old days was Thursday afternoon (5 1/2 day week).
These days usually get a day off during week that can be used if prospective employer willing to see on a day convenient to you.

Have you tried asking this large multiple for a transfer opportunity? It may be that they would rather retain and relocate than loose a Pharmacist.

I always thought honesty was the best policy but recently i'm not so sure. Just ask for the interview day as a rest day and keep things to yourself. Good luck with your job hunt.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll keep it to myself for now and break the news if/when required.

On a side note, I've been offered an interview with a hospital up north. Anyone got any suggestions on preparation I could be doing? I've got a few ideas but I'm flying a bit blind here!

Make sure you are aware of the recent white papers relating to the NHS, what has attracted you to work in the hospital environment and why the change from community, definitely clinical questions but nothing too demanding. The bulk of it would be around things like medicines management in the NHS, meds reconciliation and the current changes the NHS is going through.

Thanks for the help folks, was really useful.

Interview went great but I was pipped to the post. Their words, not mine. I got some amazing feedback though that I'm now working on. I've also been offered another interview for another band 6 post in a hospital in that NHS trust for tuesday week.

One thing the lovely pharmacist that gave me feedback advised was trying to get my hands on a list of questions that Medicines Info pharmacists ask. Any ideas where I should be looking?

Well for a start, you wanted information on questions asked. Why not help someone else and give some details.
