Hello Everyone
I am new to this and have tried to do the CPPE MUR accreditation and have failed Part 4 twice now - Parts 1 - 3 were no problem.
Apologies if this seems a re-invention of an old issue but I would be grateful for any help and advice anyone can provide.
I had the elderly gentleman taking:
Bendroflumethiazide 2.5 mg (issue of compliance and counsel patient to take every day; for consideration by patient)
Atenolol 50mg (no issue, no recommendations; did not tick any boxes under column 'For consideration by)
Ramipril 5mg (same as atenolol)
Simvastatin 40mg (no issue, counsel patient to take at night; for consideration by patient)
Co-codamol effervescent - purchased OTC for lumbago (no issues looking at the options available - the formulation may be inappropriate but I think this is debatable - any thoughts anyone? The general comment I masde was that the formulation was inappropriate because ofhigh sodium content.
In the second partof this assessment, I said that the patient was taking the medicine as prescribed (with the exception of Bendro) - the Simvastatin was prescribed as 40mg o.d. and so my thoughts were that the patient is complient with the prescribed dose. However, he is taking it at the wrong time of day. Also, if he thinks he is taking it to protect his heart is it correct to say he does not know why he is taking the medicine?
Also - how many other case studies are people aware of?
Looking forward to some good discussion and answers on this.
