Hi there, I am new to the forum so hope I have posted this in the right place! I am trying, like a lot of others, to train as a dispenser. It is quite difficult to find this role where I live on the Isle of Wight as there are not that many dispensing pharmaciies. It would be difficult to go to the mainland as the salary would be minimum wage I suspect and it would all be eaten up by travel costs to and from the mainland by car, ferry, then bus the other end. Secondly I have applied for a post that has come up in my local branch of Lloyds Pharmacy (very rare) together with another application to a GP dispensing practice (even more rare) - can someone tell me the pros and cons of working in a Pharmacy as opposed to a GP dispensing practice? As there is such high unemployment on the Island I suspect they will be inundated with high calibre candidates. I have a medical background of being an ex-Nurse (1980s) and running prfivate medical practices in London so have good medical knowlede/terminology. How does one get into this field - I am sure other people have had the same dilemma. Thanks for all your advice and help.
