First of all - throw that August DT away and look at a November one.

Use the online one. PPD >> Drug Tariff

What you get paid depends on what the script is for?
If no mention of preservative free : you will be paid the DT part IX price whatever you do.
You may claim out of pocket expenses if you incur any reasonable expense in obtaining the product.

If you have a script that directs "Preservative Free" then you can refer to the great new section in the tariff - Part VIIIB where you will be paid that price plus £20 if you endorse SP. However, you will not be able to claim Out of Pocket etc.

    Hope this helps.

Be sure so read the thread on here about endorsing the new Specials, contributed by Bobbin and someone else who I've forgotten the name of.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

The standard preserved formulation is distributed by Alissa Healthcare (it is a CE marked medical device). Since it is not possible to claim OOP expenses on Part IXa products, it is best if you can avoid having to order this product from 'Specials'. Some of the major wholesalers have recently started to stock it. It is also sold by the medium-line wholesaler Lexon, which could be useful if you use Lexon for generics etc.

OOP expenses on Part IX products....

....can be claimed on products in Parts IXb and IXc but NOT IXa or IXr.

This unfortunate and little know arrangement is described in Part II Clause 12 of the DT. It is particularly annoying since some products in Part IXa cannot be obtained without incurring expenses. For example, unusual lymphoedema garments not stocked by wholesalers. The PSNC has been typically unsuccessful in challenging these arrangements.
