A patient was prescribed methadone in installments (daily). If they missed a collection would they still be able to collect the following days installments?
The situations I'm thinking about are:
1) They shoud have collected their friday, saturday and sunday dose on FRIDAY but instead turned up on the Saturday?
2) The patient collects daily but fails to collect tuesdays dose, can he collect his wednesdays dose and those thereafter?
Had something like this in my exam. Think it was that they miss out on the date they didn't turn up and can't get compensated for it. other dates carry on as normal
Depends on the wording on the script. Most prescribers have a stamp or the software prints something to the effect that if a collection for more than one day is missed, the balance (but not the dose for the missed day) may be supplied on the following day. If that was on your prescription you can supply the balance legally, if not you can't.
A frequent occurrence. Pt attends clinic on far side of town late Friday afternoon. Arrives after closing time. I just deducted the dose when came in on the Saturday. Even considered making a stamp with correct wording as so many Drs forget it is Good Friday or Easter Sunder or even a Bank holiday Monday. Some do not know what the date is.

Sometimes worth pointing out to a GP that not only is it a criminal offence to dispense an incorrectly written CD prescription, it is also a criminal offence to write one..............
