Advice required for a newbie ;D

Hello everyone im in my 2Nd year of college, Im wondering if I could still get into pharmacy in any university I got mostly B's and C's for my GCSE's but I had retaken Maths and English to to get an A* each. I know most uni's would not like that yet I realised my slacking off was really bad so I put in alot of work.

    As subjects: Chemistry,Biology and Psychology
    Grade achieved: A* A* A*

Amount of work experience: 530-580 hours so far.
After school activities: charity work, sponsored marathons and student body rep.
Languages learnt: Arabic, English,Urdu,French and some Japanese.

Subjects im taking for A2: Chemistry,Biology,Psychology and I am also taking History my teacher is allowing me to.

Note im looking to get into Manchester University any info would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at the entrance criteria I can't see a problem as long as you get good A2 grades.

Pharmacy (4 Years) [MPharm] (Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences - University of Manchester)

There is also a pharmacy with foundation year that has lower entrance criteria but if you got A*'s at AS then you will be expecting the same at A2?

Sounds good on paper, although I wouldn't English as a language learnt on the application form

I took English lit and English grammar at O Level. Do you mean English as a second language?

Maybe I'm a tad cynical, but how do you go from mostly B's and C's at GCSE, to straight A*s at As Level?

i guess you put the work in and study and don't faff around.....for all we know they could be a relatively intelligent person who just didn't put the work in at GCSE and is now pulling their finger out....

Yeah probably right Crit. I was in the last year of the old A level system so don't know much about these AS things.

    Or be a late developer?
A levels were the best - allowed to concentrate on the subjects that interested us.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

i was the first intake into the new AS system and to say it was a disaster is an understatement. teachers didn't really know the syllabus, had no past papers to be guided by, and i think it was dumbed down from the old A level system! having to cover 6 modules over 2 years and being examined in them every 4 months, instead of having a big exam at the end of 2 years.....anyway bit of a side track

unis tend to look at A level results, GCSEs are relatively not looked at....I saw GCSEs as a means to get A levels, and A levels to get into uni...after that they become irrelevant.

Does anyone still put their GCSE results on the CV ? The last time I used my CV was when I was applying for pre-reg, but is there any point having it down when applying for jobs when qualified ?
