we pre-ordered for a customer who needed a protien powder for her daughter, she needs 8 a month at £40 a tub, she came in a couple of times with rx, now the stuff sits on our shelf and goes out of date in 3 months, we finally managed to get hold of the parent to remind her the product had arrived and was told "oh she dosent need it anymore" and had the same thing today with rice dream milk, not so expencive but still annoying, no one else will probably come in with a rx for it and that goes out of date in august
We've have one annoying customer who comes in when different staff are working and gets them to order expensive items that she MAY come and pick up.......every new pharmacist falls for her fibs and our shelves are littered with her stuff, happily going out of date. She even tried to do this with Omeprazole liquid once.
I think the ongoing problems with supply of different products is a complete nightmare - there's no benefit to the patient who's waiting for the meds or for the pharmacy who's struggling to get hold of the product. It makes us look very stupid when things like paracetamol go MCS which has happened to us a few times, especially if another pharmacy usually having a different wholesaler seems to have no trouble getting it.
I think Dizzy and I work for the same company and the amount of stuff coming up as MCS seems to be growing all the time. The best ones are when you send the order and a product comes back as MCS, you ring customer services who tell you there's no date of availability so you either try to order direct from the manufacturer and said product promptly arrives in the next delivery from the wholesaler so you have twice as much as you need or the manufacturer tells you there is definitely no supply problem and to get back in touch with the wholsaler who are then still adamant that there is a supply problem and they can't get it - aaarrrggghhh!!!!!!!
I've not had any problem obtaining Icthopaste in the past but I assume that there must be a manufacturing problem with it at the moment. It might be best to ask your doctor to prescribe an alternative. Icthopaste is certainly a very messy and smelly bandage. Your doctor should be able to prescribe something more pleasant.
It sounds like we do.....and the thing you mentioned about the "supplier" saying a product isn't available when we know damn well it is etc is a huge pain. I've complained so many times to so many people. I even went all the way to the Pharmacy show in Birmingham and had a go at the Reps on the suppliers stand and probably embarrassed myself so much in the process but nothing changes.....I strongly believe that if we could order from other suppliers (one of which is actually in our area), then we could provide a much better service like the one our stupid company keeps banging on at us to provide!!!
